Recently re-watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie and thought it'd be fun to do a material based on the cursed treasure from the movie. The pattern is totally procedural no bitmaps or svg nodes were used. I tried a new (to me) scattering method using the Atlas Scatter node which let me guarantee no intersections but at the cost of height detail. Interesting to learn, definitely has trade offs. I ended up using a really simple heightmap to reduce noise. Ultimately learned alot which is always the goal!
